Sonic Generations Description

If there’s one thing you have to credit SEGA for, it’s how they’ve changed the perception of Sonic the Hedgehog.

Ever since Sonic transitioned to 3D, critics, writers, and almost anyone who could objectively look at a Sonic game said the same thing: this character had no business existing in a three-dimensional space. But over the past few years, SEGA has changed that. Game by game, they have gradually figured out how to make Sonic work well in 3D, and with Sonic Colors, they got closer than ever to restoring Sonic’s legacy. In fact, Colors is truly fantastic, and no qualifying statements like “for a 3D Sonic” are necessary.

So, we have entered a new era for Sonic games. The old trends are gone, and no Sonic game illustrates that better than this one. For years, handheld Sonic games were better than their console counterparts, and that’s no longer true. Now, it’s the other way around.

Sonic Generations on 3DS

Sonic Generations is a peculiar game on the 3DS. It is not the handheld version of its console brethren. In fact, it is an entirely different game. There are still two Sonics, which still seems to be a threat to the hedgehog’s very existence. But beyond that, this is its own Sonic Generations with its own design and approach.

The most fundamental difference lies in the stages. Sonic Generations takes many stages from classic Sonic the Hedgehog games and remakes them with serious attention to detail. For instance, the original Green Hill remains intact but is remade with subtle refinements and stunning new graphics… as well as other Sonic classics. Of course, other stages are new designs inspired by the classics.

The console version achieved a fantastic synergy between two distinctly different game designs. This version, however, basically gives you… the same side-scrolling design for both types of stages. So, the dynamism that makes the game exciting is completely lost in this version. It feels more like an average Sonic Rush than Sonic Generations.

Sonic Generations is a really good game on consoles. On the 3DS, it’s a bit less impressive. It feels very much like a demake, and while that is certainly an understandable step to some degree, it doesn’t make Sonic Generations on the 3DS any less disappointing. If you haven’t had a chance to play it on the original 3DS, now is the time to download the game’s ROM file, which we have provided in this article, and enjoy it on an emulator.

How to Play

  • All files have been compressed by us in 7zip format, so you will need to decompress them. We recommend using 7zip or Winrar.
  • The ROM file after decompression is in *3ds format. You can use a suitable Nintendo 3DS emulator to play it. We recommend Citra Emulator or Panda3DS for Windows, MacOS, and Mobile. -> Check Guide Here
  • All game information in the ROM Info section is taken from the first file we uploaded. Some games have multiple releases for different markets such as Europe, America, Japan, Korea, etc. Most of the content is the same except for the language pack. You need to pay attention to the file name to distinguish them.
