Pokémon Alpha Sapphire Description

For those who don’t know, Pokémon Alpha Sapphire is a remake of the legendary Pokémon Sapphire game that was released on GBA in 2002. After nearly 15 years, Game Freak decided to bring this game back on Nintendo 3DS with a new look. Besides, we also see many valuable upgrades in this remake.

Pokémon Alpha Sapphire on 3DS introduced the Hoenn region and like every new generation of Pokémon, brought a host of new Pokémon, established new mechanics like double battles, and added a variety of abilities.

If Pokémon Omega Ruby is a continental adventure, then Pokémon Alpha Sapphire is an oceanic world awaiting your exploration. Originally released for the Game Boy Advance, Alpha Sapphire delivers a fresh, modern, and enchanting experience where you’ll be immersed in a beautiful Pokémon ‘forest’ with a strong maritime vibe, as if lost in mysterious water labyrinths.

Players will step into the shoes of a young Pokémon Trainer who has just arrived in the vibrant Hoenn region, where peaceful coastal cities are nestled among rainforests, scorching deserts, and mysterious flooded caves. Starting from Littleroot Town, you will need to capture legendary creatures, battle formidable opponents, and uncover ancient secrets.

Extremist Forces and the “Liquefy the Earth” Plan

Unlike its counterpart Omega Ruby, where you face the organization Team Magma, Alpha Sapphire pits you against Team Aqua – ocean fanatics who seek to awaken Primal Kyogre, a legendary Pokémon with the power to control storms and submerge all land. With the goal of “returning the world to the sea,” Team Aqua will force you to do everything in your power to stop them before everything turns into a watery abyss!

Your mission is to conquer eight Gyms, collect badges, journey alongside loyal Pokémon, and ultimately prevent the natural disaster that could occur if Kyogre reverts to its primal form – Primal Reversion.

A New, More Beautiful, More Magical Hoenn

Alpha Sapphire brings a completely new look to the Hoenn region with fully upgraded 3D graphics. From the sparkling lighthouses along the coast to the caves deep beneath the ocean, everything is vividly recreated on your screen with meticulous detail and brimming with life. Just setting foot in Sootopolis City, hidden within a volcanic lake, will make you understand why gamers can lose themselves in this world for hours on end.

The DexNav feature also makes Pokémon hunting smarter and more strategic than ever before – you can track and target rare Pokémon, know their moves in advance, and even ‘see’ their rarity with a single touch.

Enjoy Limitless Exploration

Beyond exploring the land, in Alpha Sapphire you can also experience Soaring – freely flying on the back of Latios or Latias to discover Mirage Spots, hidden locations containing a variety of legendary Pokémon from other generations. The feeling of gliding through the clouds, across a fiery sunset to reach a floating island in space, will make you feel like you’re living in a top-tier action anime.

After completing the main storyline, you will continue into the Delta Episode – a cinematic side story where you must join forces with Zinnia to save the world from a meteoroid threat, while also fully exploring the visually stunning Mega Evolution mechanic.

The Delta Episode was great and gave fans of the old games a nice short story tribute to Pokémon Emerald. Getting to ride Rayquaza into space to battle Deoxys was awesome and something not many people thought Game Freak would add to an official Pokémon game outside of an event.

Mega Evolution mechanics are well done

The Mega Evolution feature from Pokemon X & Y has been brought to these games and it is very well done. This has always been a fan favorite as the mechanic adds a great level of strategy to battles. Game Freak has added new Mega Evolutions for fan favorite Pokemon, including the three starters with Blaziken, Swampert and Sceptile.

Ready? Kyogre is Awakening!

So, are Pokémon Alpha Sapphire (and Omega Ruby) actually any good? Absolutely. The games have clearly captured the magic of the original games while adding enough new content and improvements to stand on their own. From recreating the Hoenn region with updated graphics to exciting new features and nostalgic moments, these games are a must-play for any Pokémon fan.

Pokémon Alpha Sapphire is waiting for you to download and join in saving the world. The ocean with its fantastical creatures awaits you; let’s start collecting Pokémon and exploring the world of Pokemon!
