[3DS] Shantae and the Pirate’s Curse ROM
Game Files Information
Shantae and the Pirate’s Curse Description
Shantae and the Pirate’s Curse is an action RPG platformer with a touch of adventure. It’s basically a little bit of everything rolled into one. This is the third installment in the series, and you play as a character who was once a genie and is now a human.
Story and Customization
Shantae has to move from island to island to try and clear away the dark magic that’s taking it over. I like the humor throughout the game, although it can be a bit risqué at times. There are a lot of cutscenes to watch, and they’re acted out with images of the girl talking or the character talking.
She can acquire weapons or tools to help her on her journey, such as a pistol for ranged attacks or a hat that slows her fall. Also, she can get upgrades for her moveset or weapon upgrades at the store. There’s money scattered throughout the lands, so accumulating money isn’t too difficult, but it’s not overly abundant either. So, I think they found a good balance.
There are occasional changes in gameplay, like having to move stealthily or having to carry someone. As I mentioned before, there’s a lot of backtracking. You will need to complete different parts of previous islands to progress in the islands you’re trying to clear. They don’t really hold your hand. They tend to give you a general idea, but if you haven’t played these types of platformers before, you could get stuck trying to find or get to a certain part of a level. I wish they made it a little clearer where you had to go and what you had to do.
Good Gameplay and Many Interesting Mechanics
This is an open-world platformer, which means you’ll have to backtrack across islands to unlock different areas. You’re free to go to any island at any time as long as you have the map for it. That’s both a good and a bad thing. That means an island isn’t just a “one and done” thing. It has multiple uses and hidden areas that you will need to find once you get upgraded tools or weapons.
You can buy an item that can warp you back to the beginning of an island so you can leave easily. So, if you don’t have that item, you will need to fight or platform your way through a lot of enemies in the way to get back to the start of the island.
The islands are not very big but are quite fun to explore. They give you a map screen, which is just a bunch of squares. So, while it’s simple, it’s useful. Shantae uses her hair as a whip to defeat enemies she comes across. That’s right. Hair whipping. Whip it. You’d think she’d get a huge headache from all that whipping. “Oh, I just defeated this boss, but I’m having the biggest migraine because of all the hair whipping all day.”
Diverse Items and Fairly High Difficulty
There are items you can collect or buy to make it easier. There are items that give you a shield or increase your attack power, but of course, the most useful items are the ones that fully restore your health. They only give you two hearts to start with, but as you go through the islands, you’ll find heart squids to collect. Find four of them, and you can get an extra heart. And trust me, you’ll need to find them because the game gets much harder in later levels, as you might expect, and two hearts won’t keep you alive for long.
You can play this game on the bottom screen of the dual screen if you want, but even if you don’t, the screen will still be useful. It can be used to view the map or to select and use items for a quick heal if you need one during a boss fight or something.
Conclusion
Shantae and the Pirate’s Curse is really fun. It’s a fun combination of action, RPG, platforming, and a little bit of adventure. Graphically, it’s very colorful and the controls are good. Since there are a lot of scantily clad women in the game, I would hesitate to have a small child play this. But anyway, the game itself is an excellent experience to play, and I think it’s worth you trying out on your 3ds emulator.
